Ingredients
- 0.5 cup butter, melted
- 1 brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1.5 tsp vanilla extract
- 1.25 cup all purpose flour
- 0.25 tsp ground nutmeg
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1 large apple, cut into 1/4" chunks (peeled if preferred)
Steps
- Pre heat the oven to 350F
- In a large bowl, add the brown sugar and melted butter. Vigorously stir until combined. Then add egg and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Slowly mix in flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until everything is well combined.
- In an 8x8 inch square pan lined with parchment paper, pour batter into center and gently smooth out with a rubber spatula until evenly distributed and touching all sides of pan.
- Pour apple chunks evenly on top of the batter. Using the rubber spatula, press the topping down into the batter (the chunks should still be visible)
- Bake into the center of the oven until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, about 25-30 minutes.
- Let cool 5 minutes. Cut into squares.
