This dish is incredibly quick and simple to whip up, making it perfect for last-minute cravings or easy entertaining. With minimal ingredients and equipment (just a fork and a mug!) you get a rich, chocolatey dessert that's both satisfying and endlessly customizable

Steps
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a microwave-safe mug (10-12 oz size), whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt and cinnamon until well combined.
- Mix Wet Ingredients in: Add the milk, oil, and vanilla extract, and stir until the batter is smooth and lump-free.
- Add the Lava Center: Push the chocolate chips or square of chocolate into the center of the batter. Don't mix it in—just let it sit in the middle.
- Microwave: Microwave for 50 seconds. Check that the top is slightly gooey and surrounding edges are all set. If not, continue microwaving 10 seconds at a time until they are (should be between 50-70 seconds total, depending on microwave wattage)
Tips
- Use a large mug to prevent overflowing.
Pairing Ideas
Try with vanilla ice cream (or a berry-based ice cream), or whipped cream, or top with powdered sugar.
